More Feels, Less Fuss.
We’re all about more feels and less fuss this Valentine’s Day. If you’re in need of some inspiration to help kick start your date plans this V-day, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together a list of simple (but nonetheless, special) ways to spend the annual day of love that are guaranteed to put a smile on your significant other’s face.
Cook a romantic dinner for two, together.
Pick up your favourite fresh ingredients and enjoy the activity of preparing a home cooked meal together. This risotto recipe by Maddy Trueman is the perfect V-day dish. Be sure to grab a bottle of your favourite vino, too. Ok. Wines has a great selection of natural wines and the best part is, they offer same day delivery for Gold and Tweed Coast locals, perfect for those who tend to leave these sorts of things to the last minute. We also love visiting Quince Fromagerie Cellar for a considered selection of wines from around the world and the perfect cheese pairing for every drop. We also recommend listening to this Valentine's date night playlist while cooking to set the tone.
Take a hike.
Whether it’s a romantic stroll or a full day hike, switch off and head out for a walk with your loved one. Cougal Cascades in Currumbin Valley is a favourite local spot offering an easy walk and freshwater streams to cool off in, or head out to Curtis Falls in Tamborine National Park for a lush rainforest setting and strong flowing waterfalls. Guaranteed to be the perfect remedy for a romantic day off the grid.
Pack the car and take a drive down the coast.
Grab the essentials, jump in the car and head down the coast for the day. If you’re local to the Gold Coast, there are plenty of great spots to stop off along the drive to Northern NSW. We recommend popping into Daily Counter in Brunswick Heads for a takeaway coffee before a lunch reservation at Fleet where you can indulge in share plates with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. If you’re wanting something a little more relaxed for lunch, grab some fish and chips from Fishy Fishy in Lennox Head and walk across to the beach, set up a picnic and spend the afternoon by the ocean.
Be sure to pack: Business & Pleasure Co Premium Beach Umbrella, Mayde Palm Cove Blanket and Kim Wallace Ceramics Reusable Takeaway Cup.
Have brunch in the backyard.
You don't have to leave the house to enjoy a romantic picnic for two. Set up a rug and your favourite snacks in the backyard and you have yourselves an afternoon outside without the crowds.
Our backyard picnic essentials: Maison Balzac Coucou Jug, Mudhavi Butter Lover Butter Dish, Kind Curations x Worktones Placemats and Cisco and The Sun Muji Salad Bowl.
Escape to nature for a luxury cabin stay.
Unwind and spend quality time together with a night at Heartwood Cabin in Burringbar Valley. Set on completely private grounds surrounded by natural Australian bushland, this architecturally designed cabin is the perfect retreat from the everyday. Complete with an indoor fireplace and outdoor bath, it doesn’t really get more romantic. If you miss civilisation, the cabin isn’t too far from restaurants, shops and beaches in Pottsville, so you can come and go as you please.
Things you might need for a night off the grid: Yosemite in the Sixties by Glen Denny, Upper Room Goods Kind Bookmark and Charlton Equilibrium Brass Incense Holder.
